Safety Education

LEARN HOW TO SAVE A LIFE

Safety Education programs provide health and safety courses for healthcare professionals, daycare providers, parents, foster parents, teachers, coaches and the general community. Classes are held at DMC Foundation or arrangements can be made for training at your business site.

Those interested in registering for one of our upcoming classes need to call 209-521-2229. Enrollment is offered first come, first serve; and granted based upon pre-payment of all registration fees. Our instructors have a class size minimum, we cannot offer a refund for those who cancel.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) consists of mouth-to-mouth respiration and chest compression. CPR can keep a person alive until more advanced procedures (such as defibrillation - an electric shock to the chest) can treat the cardiac arrest. CPR started by a bystander doubles the likelihood of survival for victims of cardiac arrest. The four-hour class covers adult, child and infant CPR.

First Aid

First Aid is the initial care of the injured or sick. It is the care administered by a concerned person as soon as possible after an accident or sudden illness. It is this prompt care and attention prior to the arrival of the ambulance, that sometimes means the difference between life and death, or between a full or partial recovery. First aid training has now become virtually indispensable to industry and for an active social life. The four-hour class covers adult, child and infant concerns.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are an essential tool in the treatment of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Over the years, the devices have become safer, more reliable and more maintenance free. The new technologies used in these devices make them suitable for use by anyone who has had basic training in their use.

AEDs are most effective when implemented as part of an overall strategy which considers each link in the "Chain of Survival." The three-hour class is designed for those who have current CPR certification, or you can pair it with a CPR class at your site.
